Meet the Representative Council: Tessa

Tessa Ubels is a member of the faculty Representative Council (RC). The RC represents the interests of employees in participational bodies. Meet Tessa and find out why she joined the RC.

My name is Tessa, and I am a PhD candidate in Anthropology and Development Studies.

Do you have a tip for unwinding during or after work?

To relax, I enjoy going for a walk during my break or at the end of the afternoon.

Why did you join the RC?

I joined the RC in 2021 because I believe it’s important that the perspectives of 'junior' employees are included in decision-making processes. Additionally, I thought it would be a good way to get to know the faculty better. Soon, I will be leaving the RC because I am nearly finished with my PhD research. Therefore, I’d like to encourage all ‘junior’ colleagues to consider running for the next elections. For me, it was a very enriching experience, and the group is also a lot of fun!

Bonus question: What’s your favorite spot on campus and why?

My favorite spot on campus is the green area near the Maria Montessori building.
