MOLEC awards for Jolijn Onvlee and Ad van der Avoird

Jolijn Onvlee (Spectroscopy of Cold Molecules) and Ad van der Avoird (Theoretical and Computational Chemistry) have received prestigious awards at the 25th European Conference on the Dynamics of Molecular Systems (MOLEC).

The 25th European Conference on the Dynamics of Molecular Systems (MOLEC), was held in Freiburg, Germany, from 6 to 11 September 2026. Jolijn received the Zdenek Herman MOLEC Young Scientist Prize, while Ad was awarded the MOLEC Senior Prize.

Established in 2016, the Zdenek Herman MOLEC Young Scientist Prize is awarded every two years to a pioneering young scientist in the field of molecular dynamics. Jolijn received the award during the conference in Freiburg and afterwards presented her group’s work on cold and controlled reactive collisions as part of the award ceremony.

The MOLEC Senior Prize is also awarded every two years and recognizes outstanding contributions to the field of molecular dynamics. Ad received the prize for his seminal contributions to theoretical chemistry, particularly for describing molecular interactions and collisions.
