More than 8,000 extra publications became open access by success opt-out working method

Since 1 January 2024, Radboud University has implemented a procedure that allows short works of science to become available open access even faster on the basis of Article 25fa of the Dutch Copyright Act.

Over 8,000 scholarly articles, proceedings, book chapters from edited collections and annotations from court decisions that are published before 2023, are now available open access through the Radboud Repository. Until recently, the full text of the publications was embargoed in the repository. These publications are much more accessible now.

In addition, at the beginning of this year, 514 publications by Radboud authors that were published online for the first time by an academic publisher between January and July 2023, became open access. In the coming months, works published later in 2023 will be made publicly available in the Radboud Repository.

New opt-out procedure You share, we take care!

The publisher's version of short works of science will be made public in the Radboud Repository six months after the first online publication, unless the author wishes it not to be. At least one of the authors of a publication must be employed by Radboud University.

It concerns publications of all faculties of the Radboud University. Radboudumc will also participate in this procedure in the first half of 2024.
