New digital approach for annual reviews

From 11 November, you will use the digital annual review form in BASS. This means that all annual reviews will now be recorded digitally. This change applies to all employees of Radboud University.

What will change?

  • Every employee will have at least one annual review every 12 months. This review will focus on your well-being, performance and development.
  • The annual review process will become fully digital. You and your supervisor will complete a digital form via BASS.
  • After the annual review, the report will be automatically saved in BASS and in your personnel file, once it has been approved. This will make it easy for you and your supervisor to access the reports afterwards.

Annual review form in BASS

You can find the annual review form in BASS. Follow the steps below to open a new form for your upcoming annual review:

  1. On the BASS home screen, click on Annual review overview.
  2. Then click on the Annual review button at the top left.
  3. Select your name under Person and enter the Date of the review.
  4. Then click on Continue to open the form.

Tools

Practical tools are available to help you prepare for and conduct the annual review:

  • Conversation guide for employees: with explanations of what is expected of you before, during and after the annual review, and useful reflection questions. There is also a conversation guide for supervisors available.
  • Knowledge clip (video): a brief explanation of the new process and the digital form.
  • More information, tips and materials can be found on gROW. For example, follow an e-learning course on how to give and receive constructive feedback.

What does this mean for you as an employee?

  1. Choose a suitable time for the annual review in consultation with your supervisor, so that it fits in with your work and development.
  2. Both you and your supervisor prepare for the annual review. This can be done via the digital form in BASS. You can take the initiative here and thus take more control of your development.
  3. Make it a valuable conversation. Be well prepared, watch the knowledge clip and use the conversation guide.

Why this change?

Over the past few months, the Prevent Care Cure project has been working on an accessible and clear approach to annual reviews. This change has been developed in collaboration with colleagues from across the organisation and has been well received so far. With this new approach, Radboud University is investing in good and open dialogue between employees and supervisors.

The new approach ensures greater uniformity, less administration and better insight into your reviews. This makes the annual review even more valuable, with more attention to your well-being, development and job satisfaction. Exactly what the annual review is all about.
