With the introduction of the new travel and relocation expenses scheme on 1 July 2026, it will no longer be necessary to specify in BASS on a monthly basis when you have worked from home and when you have travelled to campus (by public transport or private vehicle) in order to receive the allowance. Unless you live abroad (as registered in BASS).
How do you enter your pattern?
Log in to BASS and go to ‘Commuting days and days working from home’. Here, for a two-week period, you specify the average number of days you work from home and the average number of days you travel to the campus. You must also specify which mode of transport you use to travel to campus: public transport, car (motorbike, scooter or moped) or (electric) bicycle. You can only choose one mode of transport; a combination is not possible, so please select the option that best applies to you.
Please note: if you do not enter a pattern and means of transport, you will not receive a travel/working-from-home allowance from 1 July onwards.
If your working-from-home/travel pattern changes on a long-term basis, please update this in BASS by the first of the following month at the latest. Examples include working more or fewer hours (from home) or using a different means of transport.
Travel and working from home allowances up to and including 30 June 2026
You can claim the allowance for travel and working from home days up to and including 30 June 2026 using the old method in BASS until 31 October 2026.
