Dean Prof Paula Fikkert will leave the Faculty of Arts as soon as a successor has been found. She cites two important reasons for this. According to Fikkert, combining the deanship with her work regarding her ERC Synergy Grant proved impractical within the available time. Additionally, she states that she increasingly identifies less with the university's current course and strategy, which, in her view, places a stronger emphasis on management, efficiency, and KPIs.
Despite the challenging period involving budget cuts, Fikkert looks back positively on the collaboration within the faculty, particularly regarding the renewal of bachelor's education. Fikkert will remain affiliated with the faculty as a researcher, but is stepping down as dean.
