Who are you, what position do you hold within the faculty, and since when?
I am Anneleen, and as my name might suggest, I am originally from beautiful Flanders. As a front office assistant, I have been the sunny face of RCSW, the training institute for postgraduate education at the Faculty of Social Sciences, since 2022.
What position/work did you hold before this?
Before joining RCSW, I worked for a smoking cessation company as an intake consultant.
What are you most looking forward to in your job?
Not only am I the first point of contact at our institute, but I also like to jokingly call myself the firewoman of RCSW because I put out fires among both lecturers and my colleagues. I enjoy having diverse tasks and coming up with creative solutions.
Where can we find you?
You can find me on the first floor of our Pavilion in't Groen, where I sit cosily next to my STIP FSS colleagues. For work issues or a cup of tea/coffee, you can email me at anneleen.olbrechts [at] ru.nl (anneleen[dot]olbrechts[at]ru[dot]nl). I love getting to know new people!
What film or book have you enjoyed the most?
A must-see film is A Thousand Years of Longing. The film is an adult version of the fairy tale Aladdin but with a strange ending. Idris Elba and Tilda Swinton portray fantastic characters.
What's at the top of your bucket list?
Something very concrete on my bucket list is to recite my Spoken Word poem about street harassment at the Down the Rabbit Hole festival, which I'll actually get to do! That's very exciting! Feel free to add me on Instagram: @taalatelieranneleen
With which hobby can you really completely forget about time?
I have at least ten hobbies on each finger, but what I like to spend a whole day on is reading fiction/fantasy books.
Do you have any fun facts about yourself?
One of my quirkiest hobbies is aerial acrobatics, also called aerial silk/hoop. Or, as my friends say, Anneleen hangs in the curtains as a hobby.
