This year, more than 400 education professionals signed up for The Education Days. On 24 and 25 March, a range of lectures and workshops were held at the Experience Center. On Tuesday, The Education Days were opened by leaders from the participating educational institutions, who symbolically broke down the walls between the institutions. In doing so, they emphasised the importance of collaboration and, both literally and figuratively, created space to work together to build quality education. Participants then immersed themselves in the programme and discovered, among other things, how to foster global citizenship, future-proof education and student agency. They also discussed teachers’ awareness of AI and collaboration between vocational, higher vocational and university education as equal research partners. In addition, they were able to experience for themselves how singing helps with alignment, coaching and leadership, make an ‘educational confession’ and work together to build the school of the future.
Recap of The Education Days 2026
Last week, The Education Days took place. More than 40 workshops and lectures were given by and for teachers from Radboud University, Radboudumc, HAN University of Applied Sciences, ROC Nijmegen and Yuverta. The perfect opportunity to take a peek at each others education and reflect together on how young people are educated.
Time to build together
This year, The Education Days focused on building together. The event explored how we can make education future-proof in a complex world facing technological, social and climate challenges. We reflected on the development of ideas, professional expertise and the capacity for change, as well as on how we learn, work and connect together. The aim was to build a meaningful education system centred on knowledge, skills, resilience and connectedness.

How can education and work be better linked?
Wietske Kuijer-Siebelink addressed the question of how we train professionals in an era of increasing complexity driven by an ageing population, technological developments and climate change. She emphasised that this calls for a different approach to both working and training. Wietske demonstrated how linking learning and working contributes to training adaptive, collaborative professionals. In doing so, she explored how these professionals develop new ways of working and can contribute together to tackling complex societal challenges.
How can we move away from existing education systems and work together to build a new approach to education?
In his keynote, Frank Cornelissen demonstrated how we can move away from the existing education system and work together to build a new approach to education. He explored what that education might look like and what kind of change strategy is required to achieve it. In doing so, he emphasised that real change begins with initiative from the teaching teams themselves. Using examples from research and practice, he demonstrated how teams can (once again) take ownership of their teaching and take new steps through smart collaboration.
Frank’s keynote was not recorded at his own request. However, you can read the transcript of his inaugural lecture.
