Staff survey results 2024

In the spring, university employees had the opportunity to complete the staff survey. The results are now available.

Via the Radboud newsletter, you could read earlier that the general, university-wide report is available to everyone. It can be accessed here.

A first impression that emerges from the results of our faculty is that, overall, our staff are quite satisfied, and we are doing just fine within the university. This is a compliment to all colleagues who make up this faculty community. More colleagues also completed the survey, there was a 45% response rate. The group of PWO lecturers stood out among them. Since a large proportion of them completed the survey, they earned a cake which they enjoyed recently. We trust that in the next staff survey, we will get an even bigger response and we will be able to distribute cake to the entire faculty!

One of the main conclusions must therefore be that we should, above all, continue doing the things we do well. That said, there are areas of concern in which we can and should develop further. From an initial analysis, the board notes the following points, among others:

  • Inappropriate behaviour was experienced by a quarter of respondents:
  • Workload has decreased from 1 to 0.8 since the previous survey. In particular, the workload among non-scientific staff has decreased. Workload among academic staff has decreased slightly.
  • Trust in co-determination at university and faculty level could be improved.
  • Managerial duties: managers experience insufficient support for their managerial duties and find it difficult to combine them with other duties

We will include this information in ongoing projects within the faculty such as in the social safety programme and the workload reduction, recognition&appreciation and annual appraisal projects.

Finally, the following. A report such as this may perhaps tend to focus on the lesser results. We therefore like to reiterate with conviction that this report shows that there are very many colleagues working with great pleasure and success at our faculty. We should be proud of that, and let us pick up the areas of concern that are also there, with positive energy.
