Prorail is organising strikes in the morning until 09.00 in different regions of the country.
- Wednesday 20 November: Strikes in Eindhoven and Maastricht - limited train accessibility from the south
- Friday 22 November: Strikes in Zwolle, Groningen and Arnhem - limited train accessibility from the north
On strike days, trains will not run to/from these cities, and other routes may also experience disruptions or reduced services. The impact varies by operator; for instance, Arriva will deploy buses on Friday, but NS will not. As such, the exact impact on students and staff is hard to predict. If you live further away from Nijmegen and have lectures or appointments on campus on these mornings, we advise you to arrange alternative transport. The university will provide free parking on campus during these days.
Impact on education
If you are teaching that morning and cannot reach campus (on time), please inform your students via Brightspace about whether and how your teaching will proceed. One of the options -this is not an obligation- is to offer your teaching once via Brightspace Virtual Classroom. Notify the schedulers at roostering.fsw [at] ru.nl so they can update the timetable.
If you can attend but some of your students cannot, and your lecture room has weblecture capabilities, you can ask the schedulers to enable the live stream via roostering.fsw [at] ru.nl. Submit such requests by 3:00 PM on Tuesday for a Wednesday lecture or by 3:00 PM on Thursday for a Friday lecture.
