For the past few months, you could switch between the current version of Teams Classic and the new version. It allowed you to try out the new version of Teams temporarily. From 1 April, the current version will no longer be available. Therefore, switch in time and remove Teams Classic from your start menu and taskbar so that you don't switch back to the old version.
If you don't switch to the new version yourself, you will be automatically converted after 31 March. This may cause problems when you subsequently restart Teams. You may receive an error message when switching to the new version of Teams. You can ignore this error message.
Teams 2.0
Teams 2.0 is a new, easier and more flexible version of the application. You can switch to this new version by clicking on the slider toggle at the top of the Teams app. As soon as you switch it on, the new Teams app will be installed alongside your existing one. The icon in the taskbar will display a new text label for the new app: “NEW”. It will remain possible to switch back to the old Teams app until 1 April.
The advantages of Teams 2.0 are that the program is a lot faster, stores less data on your device and uses less memory. In addition, in the newest Teams app, it is easier to copy minutes of meetings into your agenda or mailbox, to change your announcement and notification settings, to access files quicker, and to switch between different organisations and accounts. As a result, you’ll be able to work and collaborate much faster and more efficiently in Teams.
