Tender for New CRIS Successfully Completed
The European tender for the new Current Research Information System (CRIS) has been successfully completed. The CRIS is the research information system in which information is collected about the input, output, and impact of the scientific research conducted within Radboud University and Radboudumc. Following a careful and intensive process, which also took into account digital sovereignty and public values in accordance with the SURF standards framework, the contract was awarded to Vidatum. With this, Radboud University and Radboudumc are taking an important step toward a future-proof research information system. A system designed to better support researchers and align with strategic ambitions regarding policies on Research Data Management, Open Science, and Recognition & Valuation.
The evaluation of the bids took place through a combination of written assessments, technical and functional demonstrations, and a user test. Teams with diverse expertise were involved, including privacy and security, technology, faculty administration, Open Science, and the Radboud Young Academy (RJA). The RJA had previously issued an open letter advocating for a FAIR, open, and responsible CRIS that aligns with the university’s core values. The input of alle teams was taken into account and contributed to a widely supported choice for the system.
Next steps: moving forward together toward a new CRIS
The implementation of the new CRIS will begin shortly. This includes configuration, integration with other systems, data migration, and the transition to additional functionalities. Researchers and support teams will be involved in a timely manner in testing, training, and communication regarding changes in work procedures. The current Metis system will remain fully operational until the go-live (expected in the first quarter of 2027). Together, we are working toward a seamless and future-oriented new research information system.
