Since 2020, the TLC has been building an active Teaching and Learning community within Radboud University, stimulating teacher development, educational research and innovation in teaching. This is done through its voucher programme for educational research - and innovation, the event The Education Days and various thematic meetings for and by teachers.
The award of the Npuls grant will help the TLC further strengthen the innovation power and digital proficiency within the university. Npuls is a National Growth Fund programme by and for all public vocational and education training schools, universities of applied sciences and research universities in The Netherlands. The aim is to enhance the quality of education through mutual cooperation between these institutions, increase the agility of education and improve the digital skills of lecturers and students.
Coordinator TLC Marit Rensink explains:
With the rapid pace of digital developments and also tensions in the world such as in the relationship with big tech and the dark side of AI, we need to equip our students well for their professional future. The Npuls grant provides scope to further strengthen education with lecturers and students are reaping the benefits.
Key points
With the help of the Npuls grant, the TLC will strengthen the following three areas over the next three years:
- Educational innovation (with a special focus on digitisation)
- Digital literacy of the lecturer and the student
- Community building
Educational innovation
The TLC will work on a university-wide methodology for educational innovations with digitisation. In doing so, the TLC will develop an approach that focuses on 1) stimulating, implementing and sharing outcomes, 2) scaling up and 3) sustainable implementation.
Digital literacy of the lecturer and the student
The TLC will work on a digital competence profile for lecturers and students with corresponding training offerings, so that lecturers can use an optimal mix of education methods. This will ultimately lead to high-quality and inspiring education where students learn the right basic digital skills needed in the labour market.
Community building
Finally, the TLC will further develop the Radboud Teaching and Learning community to ensure that lecturers and teaching support staff are able to get started with up-to-date examples, knowledge and materials. In doing so, the community will explicitly focus on and support digitisation in education.
