Update housing FFTR #6

Successful meeting at the Maria Montessori Building

The Faculty Board looks back on a successful meeting at the Maria Montessori Building. It was great to see more than a hundred staff members come together in what will soon be our shared working environment.

What can you expect in the upcoming weeks?

The project group will now get to work with all input gathered during the meeting. We will use the choices your department has made regarding the use and layout of your new workspace to draw up instructions for the moving company

We will examine the working arrangements you came up within each department and compare them with the arrangements made by other departments. Where necessary, we will investigate what is required to support those plans, for example by developing policies on key management or how we handle meeting rooms.

And the project group is looking into the more than twenty topics that have been flagged on the so called 'parkeerflap'. On the project page, you will find a summary of the most common questions, problems and bottlenecks that were flagged during the meeting. In many cases, you will already find a response from the project group there, but the project group will also get back to you on a department-by-department basis with a response to each question raised.

If you have any further questions following the meeting or would like to add to the information provided by your department, please contact your head of department or huisvestingfftr [at] ru.nl (huisvestingfftr[at]ru[dot]nl).

What do we expect of you in the coming weeks?

In the next phase, there is a lot you can do to ensure the move goes smoothly. Behind the scenes, the project group will be working on all the practical aspects of the move: from detailed instructions for the removal company to the delivery of moving boxes, and from updating signage to the collection and distribution of keys. We ask the following of you:

  • In the second week of May, you will receive detailed packing instructions and we will start packing and moving. The university will provide the moving boxes;
  • Start by sorting and archiving your own belongings;
  • Have you finished clearing out your own space? If so, see if you can lend a hand to colleagues who have more items to sort through;
  • Make arrangements with your department regarding items left in the hall or in shared rooms;
  • Please familiarise yourself with the general house rules for the Maria Montessori Building;
  • Help us save on IT equipment by completing this questionnaire when at home (takes about 4 minutes on average)
  • Would you like to help speed up your department’s move? Then sign up as your department’s moving coach by sending an email to huisvestingfftr [at] ru.nl (huisvestingfftr[at]ru[dot]nl).
