In Update #7, we've informed you about the packing deadline of 3 July, and about how moving company Convoi will begin moving our belongings to the Maria Montessori Building on 13 July. In this update, we’ll be looking at the final weeks leading up to the move.
Start packing
If you have not you started packing—or even sorting and archiving your stuff—yet? Then now is the time to get started. To ensure the move goes smoothly, it’s important to start packing in good time and not leave it until the last week. If everybody waits till the last moment, that leads to practical issues. For example, we’re already noticing that Asito cannot keep up with the pace that we are filling up the paper bins.

STIP has noticed that very few lecturers are currently coming in to archive their exams. If, whilst tidying up and packing away, you come across exams from the 2023/2024 or 2024/2025 academic years, please hand them over to STIP, who will then take care of archiving them.
Do you have any books you’d like to donate to the university library? From now on, you can also hand them in at reception. Please check this page beforehand to make sure your books are suitable for the collection, as donated books cannot be returned.
3 July to 13 July – Ready to move
In week 28, your workplace will still be accessible, but you should anticipate significant disruptions. Mainly because 90% of your belongings will need to be packed by then, but also because the moving team will already be on site at the faculty to prepare for the move.
What can you still do at your workplace?
- Work that only requires a laptop or PC; you do not need to pack your PC or docking station;
- Appointments and meetings at your workplace or a reserved location;
- Teams with a front-of-house role, such as STIP, reception and the administrative secretariat, will remain open.
During this period, you will see stickers appearing on furniture in your office and on storage units and artwork in public areas. It is important that you do not remove these stickers.
13 July to 10 August – The move itself
From week 29 to week 32, you will not be able to access your workspace at the faculty. Please note that, for academic staff, the move may therefore begin two days earlier than announced in the previous update. Please try to work from home as much as possible during this period.
Would you still like to work on campus?
If so, three options are available to you:
- Use rooms GR 02.080 or GR 02.088 in the Grotius Building; these have been reserved especially for us, and you can use them without an appointment;
- Make use of the flexible workspaces in the Erasmus Building or elsewhere on campus;
- Work in the Elinor Ostrom Building during the summer closure.
Farewell to the Erasmus Building
On 2 July, between the staff meeting and the closing drinks reception, we will bid a fitting farewell to the Erasmus Building by taking a group photo at both the Erasmus Building and the Maria Montessori Building, with as many faculty members as possible.
