Vacancy: Teaching Ambassador FSS at the Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC)

Do you have a passion for teaching and a talent for building connections? Would you like to contribute to strengthening education at the Faculty of Social Sciences? As a Teaching Ambassador at the Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC), you will use your enthusiasm and expertise to inspire fellow teachers, foster collaboration, and promote educational innovation.

Teaching Ambassador Radboud Teaching and Learning Centre

The Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC) at Radboud University facilitates and promotes an inspiring, inclusive, and collaborative educational climate. The TLC is committed to continuously improving the appreciation, organisation, and quality of education. It acts as a change agent by setting agendas, connecting people, and driving progress. The TLC focuses on three core themes: Educational Development and Innovation, Teacher Development and Wellbeing, and Educational Research.

We are looking for a new Teaching Ambassador

You are an academic who inspires others through the way you approach your role as a teacher. You are well-acquainted with your faculty and a natural conversation partner for key stakeholders in education. You are visible and approachable to fellow lecturers and are able to identify needs and questions related to support or professional development. You actively involve others in TLC projects and connect with initiatives beyond your own faculty. Within the TLC, you are engaged in one or more core activities.

You play a key role in connecting TLC initiatives to what is happening in the faculty and in initiating new developments. This role is a great next step in your teaching career. We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive lecturer who is firmly rooted in teaching practice. Someone who naturally looks beyond their own discipline and has both a vision for and a heart for academic education. Demonstrable experience with and/or affinity for at least one of the three TLC themes is required.

What we offer

The TLC is a dynamic network with a physical base (TvA1) and an online platform. All members are seconded from their primary roles within the university. As a Teaching Ambassador, you become part of a motivated network of colleagues from other faculties. Together, we create an inspiring environment in which we work with an inquisitive mindset on teaching development, educational innovation, and quality. Activities include inspiration sessions, teaching cafés, symposia, and the annual Education Days.

Appointment

The Teaching Ambassador is seconded to the TLC for a period of two years (with the possibility of a one-time extension) for 0.1–0.2 FTE (to be agreed upon). The reduction of regular tasks will be determined in consultation with the faculty.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively gathering and sharing information, with a curious and reflective mindset
  • Being visible within your faculty and promoting teaching-related themes
  • Building bridges within and beyond your faculty
  • Bringing back signals from the field to the TLC
  • Acting as a sounding board for fellow teachers, offering feedback and support
  • Liaising with the Teaching Information Point (TIP) and the faculty board
  • (Co-)organising TLC events such as teaching cafés and Special Interest Groups

What you need to arrange at your own workplace

  • Dedicated time and space for the role within your current appointment
  • Support from the faculty board
  • Access to information on educational themes within the faculty

What the TLC offers you

  • Interactive sessions and peer consultation with other ambassadors
  • A Teams environment for knowledge sharing
  • A network of education experts and dedicated lecturers
  • Content-driven inspiration and training
  • Periodic retreat days
  • A platform to make your vision on education visible
