Welcome to the EOS during the summer closure

From Monday 20 July to Friday 7 August, the Elinor Ostrom Building (EOS) will be your workplace on campus. We’ll make sure you feel at home there in no time.

A host is on hand to welcome you, answer your questions and show you around. Floor plans indicate where you can find workspaces, lockers, coffee and hygiene facilities, and so on. The available spaces, such as workspaces, meeting rooms and phone booths, are marked on these as ‘blue zones’ and can also be identified by blue stickers on the room numbers throughout the building.

Find your colleagues

The EOS is open to all staff and is open from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm. To ensure a familiar working environment, teams work as close to one another as possible. The layout across the floors is as follows.

  • Workspaces on either side of the corridor on the 2nd floor: colleagues from FdL, FFTR and FSW.
  • Workspaces on either side of the corridor on the 3rd floor: colleagues from FdR, the Berchmanianum and other colleagues.

Agree amongst yourselves where you’ll meet and how you can get together. The work café on the third floor (opposite the lifts) is a great place to meet up.

4Days Marches party

On the days when the route of the 4-Days Marches runs along the Heyendaalsweg past the university, there is a party in front of the EOS. On Wednesday 22, Thursday 23, and Friday 24 July, between 4:00 and 9:00 AM, DJ Bert will be at the entrance to whip up the walkers with his music. The ladies of Showdance Demoteam 'Lipstick' will accompany him on stage to further liven up the party. Coffee is available, toilets are open, and plasters can be applied. Although the EOS is closed for work on Friday, the encouragement will go on.

In the weekly update on 13 July, we’ll set out all the practical information for you, such as parking, lockers, workspaces and facilities, coffee, hygiene points and the post. Then everything will be sorted for a great time at the EOS.

Change to summer closure period in 2026

News item

At the request of the faculties, the 2026 summer closure will be moved to weeks 30 to 32, with week 29 being cancelled. The summer closure coincides with the Four Days Marches week and ends one week before the introduction week.
