What needs attention in your working conditions?

Radboud is working on a new occupational health and safety policy plan. In this plan, we set out how we organise good working conditions: what employees can expect as a minimum, who is responsible for what, what support is available, and how risks and concerns are followed up.

Before we develop the plan further, we first want to hear what employees experience in practice. What is going well? What is causing friction? What is missing? And what do you think should definitely receive attention?

Why are we asking this?

Good working conditions include everything that affects pleasant, safe and healthy work. This may include work pressure, social safety, a safe workplace, appropriate support, clear responsibilities, good instructions and proper follow-up of risks or concerns.

Radboud is a broad university. Working in a lab, workshop, teaching room, research project, office environment, support service or hybrid setting involves different situations and risks. These differences make sense. At the same time, as a university, we want to provide a recognisable basis for good working conditions.

We are collecting input in different ways

This questionnaire is one of the ways in which we are collecting input for the occupational health and safety policy plan. We will also use existing information, such as risk inventories, concerns from the organisation at large, conversations with experts and input from employee participation bodies.

We are not sharing a draft text at this stage. We first want to hear, as openly as possible, what is happening in day-to-day work. You do not need any policy knowledge to take part. We are interested in your experience, concern or practical example. Questions about the substantive direction of the plan are also welcome.

How can you share your input?

You can share your input in three ways.

Fill in the short questionnaire

You can do this at a time that suits you. The questions are open: we mainly want to hear what you think is important when it comes to working conditions. There are just 10 open-ended questions.

Join a walk-in session

Would you prefer to explain your experience or issue in person? You can join one of these sessions:

  • Thursday 10 September, 4 pm – 5.30 pm, Maria Montessori building 02.011
  • Tuesday 15 September, 4 pm – 5.30 pm, Huygens building 01.060
  • Friday 18 September, 10 am – 11 am, Berchmanianum 00.134

You can also join each walk-in session online via Teams.

What is this questionnaire not for?

This questionnaire is intended to collect policy input about work-related conditions. Please do not share medical information or mention colleagues by name.

Do not use the questionnaire or walk-in sessions for acute unsafe situations, incidents, individual absence-related questions or formal reports of inappropriate behaviour. Please use the existing reporting, support or escalation routes for these situations

What will happen to your input?

We will review the responses and summarise them in broad, non-identifiable themes. We will look for recurring themes, points of attention and suggestions for improvement. We will use this input to refine the occupational health and safety policy plan and to set priorities for its further development.

After this consultation, we will share the main themes that emerged and the next step.
