Currently, all Windows workstations managed by Radboud University are running Windows 10. All Windows workstations managed by Radboud University will be migrated to Windows 11 by October 2025. This applies to both fixed workstations (desktops) and mobile workstations (laptops).
In March, a pilot will be launched within the Information & Library Services (ILS) division. From May, Windows workstations of other divisions and faculties will be gradually transferred. A schedule for each faculty/division will follow. You will be informed before your device is upgraded to Windows 11. During the update of your Windows workplace to Windows 11, you cannot use your desktop or laptop for a maximum of one hour.
No more updates for Windows 10
From October 2025, Microsoft will stop providing support for Windows 10. This means that from then on, Windows 10 will no longer be safe as no updates will be performed, increasing the risk of vulnerabilities. Besides this security reason, there are other benefits to Windows 11, including a new look and new features that enhance usability, productivity and performance.
