Zoom video software accounts will be deleted on 26 August 2025

From 26 August 2025 onwards, it will no longer be possible to use Zoom with your Radboud email address. Although Microsoft Teams has been the designated software for video calling and online meetings for quite a while, free Zoom licenses are still being used within the university. Zoom has announced that it will begin charging for these licenses. Therefore, all free Zoom accounts associated with Radboud University will be terminated on 26 August.

All Radboud University staff and students have access to Microsoft 365. Microsoft Teams is an online collaboration tool. This software allows you to chat, make (video) calls, hold online meetings, manage tasks and schedules, and collaborate in real-time on documents with people from both inside and outside Radboud University. Microsoft Teams is pre-installed on Radboud workstations and is easy to use with your Radboud account.

Hosting online lectures

Brightspace includes the software Virtual Classroom, which allows you to host online lectures. You schedule the session via Brightspace and the link is automatically shared with students in a Brightspace course. The Virtual Classroom is suitable for lectures with up to 150 participants. For lecture groups larger than 150 participants, you can use Teams Meetings. You schedule the session in your Outlook calendar and share the link with students via Brightspace.
