Radboud Sustainable Working

Pleasant and efficient (collaborative) work in a healthy and adaptive working environment.

What is Radboud Sustainable Working?

Radboud Sustainable Working stands for working in a healthy, inspiring and adaptive working environment that encourages collaboration and meeting. A way of working that contributes to a sustainable environment, the well-being of all staff and students and the achievement of team and organisational goals. Central to this is that the working environment optimally supports your needs and work activities.

Why Radboud Sustainable Working?

At Radboud University, it is important that you can work well, effectively and with pleasure. Working in a way that suits you and at the same time contributes to the goals of your team or department - and the sustainability ambitions of the university. This can be done in various places, on or off campus. This requires a sustainable working environment with optimal facilities and efficient use of space.

That is why we continuously work on renewing and improving the working environment and the way we work (together).

Work culture

In our organisation, we encourage a healthy work-life balance. Together, we make agreements on working methods at team and department level. These are clear and findable for everyone. We fulfil our responsibilities and call each other to account if necessary, in order to contribute together to a pleasant working culture.

Principles

Radboud Sustainable Working is based on three principles:

  1.    Optimal working
  2.    Effective use of space
  3.    Well-being

Optimal working

The working environment supports work and thus the achievement of individual, team and organisational goals.

  • The working environment provides facilities for individual work and for various forms of meeting, consultation and cooperation.
  • Insight into workplace availability is facilitated.
  • As an employee, you are welcome in any building and you can basically work anywhere.
  • Teams and departments jointly find a suitable way to promote cooperation and meeting.

Effective use of space

The use of space is efficient and adaptive. This makes adaptation to future growth easy, avoids unnecessary additions and reduces energy consumption. In this way, we contribute to CO² reduction and our accommodation remains affordable.

  • Each faculty and team/department has a recognisable location on campus.
  • The working environment on campus consists of a mix of types of workplaces.
  • The working environment and facilities are shared.
  • Besides working on campus, there is also the possibility to work at home or elsewhere.
  • There is insight into the occupancy of workstations in buildings, so that they can be used as efficiently as possible.

Well-being

The well-being and vitality of staff and students are of paramount importance at our university. Radboud Sustainable Working encourages and facilitates a pleasant and healthy way of working (together).

  • The working environment and way of working contribute to your mental and physical health.
  • You feel at home here and you get opportunities to develop.
  • Within the interests and goals of your team and the organisation, you have autonomy in the choice of our working method, work location, workplace and working hours.
  • You work in a learning organisation. Within the working environment and the agreements you make with each other, there is room for reflection and development.
