Academic calendar 2024–2025

Before the start of each academic year, the academic calendar for all Bachelor's and Master's programmes is determined. Here you can see within which frameworks education, exams and days off from lectures take place. The study programmes use this timetable as the basis for their academic year.

Explanation of the academic calendar can be found as a download at the bottom of the page.

Please note: the academic calendar for the Faculty of Medical Sciences differs from the one on this page. For them, the calendar on the Radboudumc website is leading. A number of additions also apply to the Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Law and Faculty of Philosophy, Theology and Religious Studies. The Nijmegen School of Management and the Faculty of Science follow the academic calender.

At Radboud University, we strive for an inclusive and diverse academic community. In addition to official holidays, we recognize the importance of other cultural and religious celebrations observed by our students and staff. While these days are not official holidays, we encourage lecturers and staff to consider these occasions when planning academic activities such as exams and deadlines. In this way, we show respect and understanding for the diverse backgrounds within our university.

Some of the most celebrated days in the Netherlands in 2025 include:

  • Ramadan: Islamic fasting month, from the evening of Friday, February 28, to approximately Saturday 29 March 2025.
  • Eid al-Fitr (Sugar Feast): Islamic celebration marking the end of Ramadan, expected on 30 March 2025.
  • Eid al-Adha (Festival of Sacrifice): Islamic feast of sacrifice, expected from Friday 6 June to Tuesday 10 June 2025.
  • Rosh Hashanah: Jewish New Year, starting at sunset on Monday 22 September, and ending at nightfall on Wednesday 24 September 2025.
  • Yom Kippur: Jewish Day of Atonement, starting at sunset on Wednesday 1st October and ending at nightfall on Thursday 2nd October 2025.
  • Diwali: Hindu festival of lights, celebrated on Friday 24 October 2025.
  • Keti Koti: Commemoration of the abolition of slavery in Suriname and the Dutch Caribbean, celebrated on Tuesday 1st July 2025.
