Would you like to send emails to a large group of people? Then you can request either a distribution list or a mailing list.
A distribution list is intended for internal email communication within the university. It cannot be used to send emails outside the university, nor can it receive emails from external senders. Distribution lists are visible in the Outlook address book.
If you need a list that includes both internal and external recipients, you should request a mailing list instead.
Requesting a distribution list
To request a distribution list, send an email to icthelpdesk [at] ru.nl. Please include the proposed name of the list and the names of the intended manager(s); preferably, more than one person should be assigned as manager.
Choose a name that clearly reflects the purpose of the list, for example: DMC-Evenementenbureau-L, ICIS Instituut-L, or RSC Vakgroep Fitness-L. The name should always end with “-L” and will be visible in the Outlook address book.
Managing distribution lists
Log in at https://mail.ru.nl/ecp. Please note that, due to digital security measures, access is only possible when you are on campus and using a workstation connected via network cable, or when your personal device is connected to the Wi-Fi network (eduroam). If you are using eduVPN, please temporarily disable it.
Once logged in, you can view all distribution lists hosted on the Radboud server. However, you will only have administrative access to the list(s) for which you have been assigned as a manager. Therefore, it is helpful to know exactly which lists you are authorized to manage.
To manage a list, double-click the list name with the left mouse button. This will open the management options. Under the Membership section, for example, you can view and edit the list of members.
Requesting a mailing list
If you need a list that includes both internal and external recipients, request a mailing list instead. Mailing lists are self-managed, which means the designated manager should have some technical knowledge.
You can request a mailing list via Topdesk. This can be done from a Radboud workstation or from home using an eduVPN connection.
