Diamond Open Access is one route for making publications open access. Unlike other journal-oriented routes, Diamond Open Access initiatives do not charge authors publication fees. Additionally, Diamond initiatives are often run by members of the academic community itself, and can thus can operate more independently than journals in the portfolios of commercial publishers. Publication costs are financed through consortia or contributions from the community. Radboud University Press is an example of a Diamond Open Access publisher.
Journals
There are various Diamond Open Access journals and platforms where authors can publish their work, for example: eLife, sciPost, and OLH (The Open Library of Humanities). There are also platforms such as OpenJournals, which also offers Diamond Open Access journals. You can find more Diamond Open Access journals in the Diamond Discovery Hub Journal Browser.
Existing journals can also be transferred to a Diamond Open Access publisher. This guide gives more information about converting a journal to Diamond Open Access.
