If you are going abroad for up to 6 weeks, it is a good idea to check a few things before you go. Among other things, think about:
- Will I keep my 30% rule or can I actually use this rule abroad?
- Where do I have to pay taxes during my temporary stay abroad?
- Where am I socially insured during my foreign stay? What about the AOW/ANW?
- Do I have to apply for travel in BASS?
- How can I pass on the temporary address abroad?
- Do I need to take out travel insurance?
- Are healthcare costs abroad covered?
- Do I need to apply for a Residence Permit for the country where I am temporarily staying/working?
- Do I need vaccinations for the country of residence and where can I get them?
- Check your personal insurance
- Check the visa requirements for your destination
Permission to work abroad
Working from other countries may have consequences for where you have to pay wage tax or are socially insured. There are also situations where employment law of the other country may apply. Radboud University is responsible for this and has an important duty of care for you as employee.
The following instructions apply to working from abroad:
- Working from abroad full-time is not permitted without prior written permission from the faculty’s Executive Board and positive advice from Global Mobility Services with regard to the consequences concerning foreign labour, tax and social insurance law
- Hybrid working from abroad for cross-border workers from Germany and Belgium is permitted up to a maximum of 49.5% of your working hours
Always ask your supervisor for written permission if you plan to work abroad. Each request will be submitted to Global Staff Services of the HR Division for advice.
