Moving abroad

Working from abroad may affect where you have to pay income tax or which social security legislation applies to you. There are also situations where labour law of the other country may apply. For these reasons, within Radboud University, moving abroad and working from abroad is not allowed. The exception is for cross-border workers who move to Belgium or Germany, they are allowed to work a maximum of 49.5% of their time from home. Furthermore, the following policy applies to moving and working from abroad:

  • Always seek written permission from your supervisor;
  • After written permission from your supervisor, submit the situation to the Global Mobility Advisor(s);
  • The Global Mobility Advisor(s) will assess your tax and social security position for the period of your stay abroad;
  • If negative advice is given, working from abroad cannot take place.
