Occupational health physician

The occupational health physician is a medical specialist and an independent adviser of employee and employer in the field of work and health. Your conversation with the occupational health physician is strictly confidential because of medical confidentiality. The occupational health physician pays attention to all aspects that contribute to the effective resolution of work-related health issues.

Preventive consultation hours

Do you want advice on preventing health risks at work or working with health complaints? Then make an appointment for the preventive consultation hour. The occupational health physician will only report the advice back to your manager if you have given permission. Your visit to the consultation hour is also confidential and will not be reported to your manager without your permission.

Reintegration advice

If you cannot do your work because of illness, the occupational health physician advises on the degree of incapacity for work (in terms of limitations in time and tasks), on when it will be responsible to resume work and whether adjustments to the work are needed. During sick leave, the occupational health physician advises the employee and employer, in accordance with the rules and procedures of the Wet Verbetering Poortwachter. Because reintegration is a joint responsibility, the occupational health physician gives feedback on his advice to both the employee and the manager/employer, so they can make agreements together.

The occupational health physician works together with a occupational health support worker (MOB). The support person may perform certain tasks in the field of absence supervision and reintegration. The occupational health physician maintains supervision and remains ultimately responsible.

If you have a long-term illness and are affected by the Wet Verbetering Poortwachter, please check that page for more information.
