The RU journal browser allows you to quickly find out whether, as an RU/Radboudumc researcher, you can publish open access in a specific journal without extra costs and what conditions apply.
Read & Publish agreements with commercial publishers
Dutch university libraries have concluded so-called read & publish agreements with several major publishers at the national level.
As an employee of the RU or Radboudumc, this gives you access to journals and allows you to publish in hybrid (and sometimes full) open access journals free of charge or at a discount. You can find an overview of these publisher deals at openaccess.nl.
Some deals impose a maximum number of open access articles per year, known as a cap. Articles accepted after the cap has been reached cannot be published open access without incurring additional costs. Therefore, it is advisable to consider possible alternatives for publishing open access in advance and to check the conditions imposed by your research funder.
The corresponding author must be affiliated with Radboud University or Radboudumc to be eligible for a discount or free open access publishing.
Tip: Always carefully review the terms and conditions of the open access deal. The types of publications included in the deal—in addition to regular research articles—may vary depending on the publisher.
In addition to the national deals, the university library enters into read & publish agreements with small, often subject-specific, publishers on behalf of RU/Radboudumc. This guide provides an overview of Radboud’s own deals.
