All of the members of a functional mailbox, which is also known as a shared mailbox, can send and receive emails via this mailbox. The owner of the functional mailbox can add or remove members. For this purpose, the following form can be used 'Requesting or withdrawing full control of a mailbox or functional mailbox'.

Transferring ownership of a functional mailbox
If you no longer wish to be the owner of a particular functional mailbox, which is also known as a shared mailbox, you can make someone else the owner. You can transfer the ownership of a shared email address through the Account Portal.

Removing a functional mailbox
Can a mailbox be removed? Please notify the ICT Helpdesk by e-mail (icthelpdesk [at] ru.nl).
Every two years, the owner of a mailbox is asked whether it is still in use or whether the mailbox may be discontinued.
