Why should you use eduVPN?

VPN stands for Virtual Private Network, which provides users with secure access to the internet, especially when they are using a public internet connection. When you are using a public network, hackers can easily see what you are doing on the internet. This allows them, for example, to steal personal information, hack your email or social media or withdraw money from your bank account. A VPN will encrypt your internet traffic and protect your online identity. Radboud University uses eduVPN.

System access

EduVPN provides you with off-campus access to the following systems that are ordinarily blocked when they are accessed from any system other than Radboud University’s internet:

  • APRO
  • BASS-Finlog
  • BASS-HR
  • Corsa/Xential
  • CRM
  • FileMaker Pro applications
  • Network drives (departmental folders, personal folders, and work group folders)
  • OSIRIS Basic
  • RMS
  • Syllabus
  • Topdesk
  • Web lectures (backend only)

You do not need to use a VPN for Brightspace, Cirrus, Kaltura, OSIRIS (except for OSIRIS Basic), Outlook, Turnitin, or web lectures (except for the backend).
