Surplus holiday hours

If you find that you have a surplus of holiday hours at the end of the year, you can:

  1. Carry them over to the following year
  2. Add them to the existing hours in the Selection Model
  3. Save them for a particular form of leave such as a sabbatical or parental leave.

1. Carrying over holiday hours

You are permitted to carry over a maximum of 80 holiday hours into the following year (in accordance with your contract of employment) without consulting your supervisor. If you wish to carry over more than 80 holiday hours, you will need to confer with your supervisor. Holiday hours must be used up within six months. 2. Adding holiday hours to the existing hours in the Selection Model

If you wish to add your holiday hours to the hours that are already in the Selection Model, you will not need to confer with your supervisor. You can customise your Selection Model in BASS. Find out more about the options in the Selection Model.

3. Accrual of holiday hours

During a period of between three to five years, your holiday hours can be accrued so that they can be used for other forms of leave such as a sabbatical or an extended period of parental leave. If you wish to accrue holiday hours, you can discuss this with your supervisor. Find out more about accruing holiday hours. You request this by filling out the following form:
