External hiring

Do you have a temporary assignment for which no internal employee is available and you do not want to hire a new employee? In that case, hiring contractors may be a suitable solution. The hiring desk will be happy to help you. 

When does external hiring apply? 

Not every contractor is considered external hiring. It could also be a purchasing assignment, a temporary worker or a guest lecturer, for example.  

For requests for contractors, such as self-employed professionals or contract staffing, from scale 10 onwards, the central hiring desk is the designated point of contact. This applies to both new assignments and renewals. 

The services provided by the hiring desk applies to all faculties and units that that are part of the legal entity of Radboud University and that consider or carry out external hiring. It concerns the engagement of self‑employed professionals (zzp’ers) and contract staffing from scale 10 and above. Purchasing assignments, assignments subject to the renseigneringsplicht (formerly IB47), temporary agency work, and Campus Detachering fall outside the scope of this guideline. Finally, this guideline does not apply to external hiring for the research domain (third‑party funding). If you are considering external hiring within this domain, always consult your HR advisor.

What does the hiring desk do?  

The hiring desk: 

  • Guides the entire external hiring process;
  • Ensures that requests are handled carefully and in accordance with laws and regulations;
  • Works together with a broker who helps find suitable candidates and facilitates the hiring of contractors 

The goal: a professional, transparent and future-proof way of hiring contractors, providing managers with service-oriented support and expert advice. 

Who works at the hiring desk? 

The hiring desk consists of three enthusiastic colleagues who are there to help you.

Margriet Joosten -  Hiring Coordinator  
Margriet is the point of contact for questions about the hiring process at a strategic and policy level. She advises on the right type of deployment, helps with more complex requests and monitors quality and progress within the hiring desk. 

Anouk Lamers - Hiring Specialist 
Anouk contributes ideas on the substantive details of hiring requests. She helps formulate a suitable job description and advises on the right type of hiring. You can contact her with questions about current requests or for advice on the best approach. 

Gabrielle Kamphuis - Hiring desk employee 
Gabriëlle assists with practical and administrative questions regarding the submission and processing of applications. She provides support with documentation, planning and the day-to-day handling of the hiring process.
