As a Friend of the Grotius or Grotius Chairholder, you show your special commitment to the Faculty of Law of Nijmegen. You contribute to the realization of our vision to be a top institute for legal education and research. Your donation will benefit scholarships for Nijmegen law students who wish to study abroad for a short or longer period of time, the retention of talented students from abroad and the provision of extracurricular activities for our students.

Become a Friend of the Grotius

In 2014, the Grotius Building was opened. 'The Club of 2014' contributed to the realization of additional study facilities such as the furnishing of the courtrooms and expansion of the collection of the library. We greatly appreciate this great involvement and support from our alumni. As of 2019, five years after the opening, we welcome our (future) donors as 'Friends of the Grotius'.

As a Friend of the Grotius, you can choose to make a one-time or annual donation of €25,-, €50,- or €75,- until further notice. Your name will appear on the Friends of Grotius panel in the lobby of our building and you will receive a special update with news about the faculty on a regular basis.

Become a Grotius Chairholder

You can become a Grotius Chairholder by connecting your name exclusively to one of the 472 chairs in the main lecture hall in the Grotius Building.

• You adopt your own chair for a period of five years. On this chair will be a name plate in which your name is engraved.
• Your name will appear on the Grotius Chairholder panel next to the entrance to the main lecture hall.
• In addition, you will receive an annual invitation to the Van der Grinten Lecture.
• As a Grotius Chairholder, you donate €100 per year for five years. You can also choose to make a one-time € 500,- donation.

Become a Grotius Master

As a Grotius Master, you donate €200 per year for five years. You can also choose to make a one-time donation of € 1,000.

Individual donations

Are you considering supporting the faculty and its students individually? If so, you could do so once, but it is also possible to do so for a number of years. With these additional funds, the faculty supports students and PhD students who have ambitious plans to pursue masters abroad.

You can use a continuous authorization when you choose a periodic (e.g. annual) donation. If you make such a donation for at least five years, you can deduct it from your income tax return. However, you do need to sign a donation agreement with the Stichting Rechtenalumni Nijmegen. Please contact alumni [at] jur.ru.nl or 06-31132371.

Estate

A donation from estate to the faculty is a special way to contribute to realizing our vision of being a top institution for legal education and research. By including a donation in your estate, you can continue to support the faculty and its students after your own lifetime. In the case of a bequest, the will describes exactly which gift you support the Law Alumni Foundation Nijmegen with. You can leave a fixed amount of money, but also, for example, real estate. With a legacy, you include the Foundation in your will as heir. You determine what percentage of your property is earmarked for the foundation.

Since the Law Alumni Foundation Nijmegen is an ANBI institution, the foundation does not have to pay inheritance tax on this. You can discuss these possibilities with your own notary. If desired, SRN board member Mr. Jef Oomen (notary) can also assist you. You can reach him at 073 691 87 87.
