Are you thinking about going abroad for a certain period of time while you are studying? This page contains extra information about grant applications, choosing a destination and the things that you will need to arrange before you leave.
Why?
Are you looking for an extra challenge and considering going abroad during your studies? Go for it! You can study abroad, do an internship or research placement, or take part in a short stay such as a summer or winter school. An international experience is valuable for both your personal and social development and will strengthen your CV. Are you ready to take on the challenge?
When?
To go abroad during your Bachelor’s or Master’s programme, you need to meet certain requirements. Some programmes offer a specific “mobility window,” allowing you to go abroad without delaying your studies. At some faculties, international experience is always extracurricular, meaning it falls outside your regular programme and will typically result in study delay. It is also possible to go abroad after completing your Master’s degree.
How long?
You can decide how long you want to stay abroad. Most students choose to go abroad for one semester, but shorter stays, such as a summer or winter school, are also possible. The duration of your stay may affect your eligibility for grants.
