Housing for international students
Are you an international student coming to Radboud University for the first time? Then you can ask for assistance in finding a room! On this page, you can check whether you are able to get housing assistance and find other relevant information about housing in Nijmegen and its surroundings.
Nijmegen is a popular student city. In addition to Radboud University, there is also a University of Applied Sciences called HAN. Due to a country-wide housing crisis, there are not enough rooms for all students coming to Nijmegen.
We at Radboud University understand the challenge and try our best to provide as much support with housing as possible.
Radboud University has an accommodation service that is quite unique in the Netherlands. International exchange and Master’s students can request assistance in finding accommodation for the full duration of their study programme. All you have to do is apply before 1 April (non-EU/EEA) and 1 May (EU/EEA) and indicate that you want to make use of our unique accommodation service. We will do our best to accommodate all international exchange and Master’s students but we cannot give any guarantees.
Radboud University also has an agreement with the Student Housing Association (the SSH&) that all Bachelor's and pre-Master’s students who have to travel for more than two hours to reach Nijmegen, can participate in the SSH& room lottery from 1 June onwards, one month earlier than students who have to travel less than 2 hours. Make sure to apply before 1 April (non-EU/EEA) and 1 May (EU/EEA), as you will need to show a valid Letter of Acceptance to SSH&. If you win a room via this lottery, you can live there for the duration of your complete study programme.
Radboud international students share their experiences about finding housing.
*Please be aware that if you have not been able to find a room before 1 August, we urge you not to travel to Nijmegen, as it will no longer be possible to find accomodation.
