Expenses related to your residence permit application can be divided into two categories; ‘costs in relation to the application’ and ‘financial means’.
Costs in relation to the application are:
Immigration fee (IND fee)
Student Admissions does not charge you for the assistance in applying for your visa and/or residence permit. However, the IND does charge a processing fee of € 254*. You transfer this fee to the Radboud University and it will be cashed by the IND (the Dutch Immigration and Naturalisation Service).
Exceptions: citizens from Israel and San Marino do not have to pay the immigration fee due to a special agreement between the governments. Also, some scholarships and grants cover the immigration fee. If an exception applies to you, you do not have to pay the immigration fee.
Insurance fee
With the visa application Radboud University will become your referent and is obliged to ensure that you are properly insured. Therefore we take out private student insurance with our partner Aon. The cost of the insurance is about € 60* a month. You pay for the duration of your stay with a maximum of 12 months. After that you take out your own insurance.
Tuberculosis test (TB test)
For some students a tuberculosis test is mandatory for obtaining a residence permit. The test is to be taken in the Netherlands. If it applies to you, you will be informed during the visa application process. The cost of the test is € 58,50*. You transfer this fee to the Radboud University and it will be cashed by the Municipal Health Organization.
For the payment of the above-mentioned costs you will receive an AcceptEmail with payment link in the visa application procedure.
Financial means
If you are going to study in the Netherlands and need a residence permit, the IND requires you to show that you have sufficient money to live and study in the Netherlands.
In the visa application procedure you will have to show two financial parts:
- tuition fee for the first year (not applicable to exchange students);
- living expenses for the period of stay, with a maximum of 12 months.
The amount of living expenses is a monthly amount set by the IND. The table below shows the total amounts per type of study programme.
