Required documents for your residence permit

If your stay in the Netherlands exceeds 90 days, Radboud University will apply for a Dutch residence permit for study for you. Well before your arrival, the Visa Team of Student Admissions starts the visa application procedure in OSIRIS.

In this procedure we ask you to upload the following documents: a copy of your valid passport, a signed antecedents certificate and a signed declaration of intent to undergo a tuberculosis test. We also ask for proof that you have sufficient financial means to pay the tuition fee (if applicable) and support yourself financially

Copy of your valid passport

We require a clear scan of your valid passport (with signature page). We also ask you to include all used pages of your passport in this scan. If you have any other (relevant) residence documents you can add them to the scan of your passport or you can upload a scan under the relevant section in OSIRIS.

We advise you to have a passport that is valid during your whole stay in the Netherlands, but it is not mandatory. It is possible to extend your passport in the Netherlands. If you are starting your studies in September, your passport should be valid until at least the 1 January of the next year. Starting in February? Then your passport should be valid until 1 July of that year.

Antecedents certificate

A hand-signed antecedents certificate is a mandatory part of the visa application procedure. With this form you declare that you have no criminal record. If you have to answer ‘yes’ to any of the questions, please contact the Visa Team of Student Admissions.

Declaration of intent to undergo a Tuberculosis test

Unless your nationality is exempted, you have to undergo a tuberculosis test (TB test) after your arrival in the Netherlands. If the tuberculosis test is mandatory for you it will be mentioned during the visa application process and you will have access to the declaration form in the visa application procedure. Make sure to sign the form by hand with a pen.

The TB test will be done by the Municipal Health Organization and will consist of an x-ray of the lungs.

Sufficient financial means

If you are coming to study in the Netherlands and need a residence permit, the IND requires you to show that you have sufficient money to live and study in the Netherlands.

This proof of finances consists of two parts that you will have to show in the visa application procedure:

  • tuition fee for the first year (not applicable to exchange students);
  • living expenses for the period of stay, with a maximum of 12 months.

You will be informed of the exact amount applicable to you when we start your visa application in OSIRIS.

Financial statements may not be older than three months at the time of filing the visa application with the IND. The Visa Team of Student Admissions advises you not to start collecting these documents too early.

There are four options available to show sufficient financial means. You can select which option you want to use in the visa application procedure in OSIRIS. It is possible to combine different options.
