Just a few more days until the #Radboud100 celebrations

Next week it’s finally there: between 8 and 14 May, we will celebrate Radboud University's 100th anniversary. We will take you through the jam-packed programme:

8 - 14 May: 100 Radboud Gestures throughout Nijmegen

100 'acts of kindness' for Nijmegen and its inhabitants: that's what our students and staff will do between 8 and 14 May with the 100 Radboud Gestures. To celebrate Radboud University's 100th anniversary and to give something back to the city that we are part of. These Radboud Gestures include: cleaning up the Waal beaches and parks, music and games in nursing homes, help with CVs and motivation letters, walking tours and lectures on Nijmegen's past, meetups with refugees and various communities, free legal and psychological advice, scientific games and experiments for children at schools and libraries, collecting and donating food and clothes, setting up mini libraries in different neighbourhoods, and much, much more. Check out all 100 initiatives at www.ru.nl/radboudgebaren. Want to drop by yourself? Please do, but some activities require you to sign up in advance. You can find this information on the website.

9 May: Radboud Kids

During science festival Radboud Kids, primary school pupils from various schools in Nijmegen will visit city island Veur-Lent. Researchers take the pupils into the world of their (Island-related) research through fun and educational activities. In an interactive and accessible way, they come into contact with the diverse research of the various faculties. Who is participating with which research can be found on the website. Want to know more about the idea behind Radboud Kids and what else the Wetenschapsknooppunt organises? Then read this Radboud Recharge story (in Dutch).

9 May: Honorary doctorate and lecture Michael Sandel

Michael Sandel, political philosopher at Harvard University, will receive an honorary doctorate from Radboud University on 9 May, followed by a lecture in De Vereeniging. There are still some tickets left: read more and register. Because of the 100th anniversary, we are awarding 6 more honorary doctorates - one for each faculty - in October.

Radboud Festival takes place on 11 May 2023

11 May: Radboud Festival

Artists and speakers include: Rutger Bregman & Lema Salah, CH!PZ, Nona, The Vices, Mandy Woelkens & Rebecca de Leeuw, Goldkimono, Sinan Can & Parweez Koehestanie, and The Vices.

Line up Radboud Sounds 12 mei 2023

12 May: Radboud Sounds

If you could turn the stars into sound, what would it sound like? Can music increase your pain threshold? How can music fool your ears? And why is it so important to let loose on music together? Listen, dance, enjoy and hear music as you have never experienced it before. We conclude this festive week with Radboud Sounds, the science of music. Poppodium Doornroosje will be filled with inspiring lectures and talks by our own researchers, complemented by music by Sophie Straat, DJ Joost van Bellen and YIN YIN, among others.
