USC column December

It is not just getting colder outside: in our USR office at TvA, we are increasingly wrapped up in our coats and scarves because we need to ventilate properly to keep the CO2 monitor happy. In this column, we look back and ahead at a busy period for the student council.

Diverse agenda

In early November, we had a pleasant introductory meeting with the new executive board chair Alexandra van Huffelen. Later in November, we were busy with committee meetings, and the conclusion of the second cycle will take place in early December. In the meantime, additional meetings have been scheduled on the budget, which has always been an important discussing matter, but is taking on an extra charge this year due to budget cuts. Other important documents regard the house rules, information on the committee on partnerships, regulations on numerus fixus programmes and the placement of a new MRI scanner on campus. All in all, a big and diverse agenda, so we are being kept busy! We are working on, among other things, the student code of conduct, plans to install a new prayer room, the new election regulations, and student engagement in education.

Festive prospects

We are also improving on an informal level: a date dinner is happening in January, and plans for the participation gala in May are also taking shape.
