Teamspirit and camaraderie
The mood within the University Student Council is good: our first informal “meeting” has already taken place (classic “fries table” at Corry's, bowling and going out - a textbook example of a student night out if you ask us), the drinks after our meetings are well-attended and even during the meetings, despite having important discussions, there is a pleasant atmosphere.
Key policy initiatives
During our first cycle, several major policy documents were on the agenda, the most important ones for us being the setting of the institutional tuition fees, the code of conduct for student associations and criteria for organising meetings on campus. Especially for the latter, the past few weeks have shown how important it is for us to be critical of this as a council, as we do not want students' right to demonstrate to be restricted in any way.
