Note: the position requires a good command of the Dutch language in reading and writing.
Students can appeal to the Examination Appeals Board (CBE) if they disagree with a decision made by an examination committee or examiner. You can think about decisions on the binding study advice, the assessment of an exam or an application rejected by the examination board.
The CBE consists of over 20 members, with one student and one lecturer from each faculty, as well as the staff with (vice) chair, a registrar and secretary. Depending on whether appeals have been filed, the committee meets every four weeks to discuss filed appeals. It first considers whether a settlement can take place and, if not, a hearing follows. As a student, you will be a full member of this committee and, together with the other members of the committee, you will assess all appeals and play a role in shaping the decisions surrounding these appeals.
There are periods when there are more hearings, for example around the period of admissions. The sessions are not compulsory, although you are of course expected to attend some of them. An inventory is made beforehand of who can attend which session. The documents will be sent to you a week before the session. You will receive a reimbursement per attended session.
