The examination Board for Public Administration decides on matters such as admission to the programme and ensures the quality of examinations. No rights can be derived from the information.
Procedure for Submitting a Request to the examination Board
A formal request must be submitted in the form of a signed formal letter on paper, clearly stating your name, student number, and address. This letter, once signed, may be scanned and sent by email to the examination Board. Relevant appendices, such as an OSIRIS grade list for requests regarding an additional exam opportunity, must be included. Anonymous requests will not be processed. The letter should be addressed to the secretary of the examination Board.
For any questions about procedures, the student advisor is your first point of contact. The examination Board should only be approached to request a formal decision.

What does the examination Board Decide?
The examination Board makes decisions on the following matters:
- Exemptions: Students can request an exemption for a course if they have completed a course of comparable content and difficulty elsewhere. Further information on applying for exemptions is provided below.
- Admission to the Programme: Requests for admission are typically submitted via the OSIRIS system. If required, such requests are automatically forwarded to the examination Board for assessment. More details on admission requests can be found in the relevant section below.
- Fraud Cases: Suspected fraud or plagiarism must be reported to the examination Board by the lecturer. The board will investigate to determine whether fraud has occurred.
- Diploma Collection: If extraordinary circumstances prevent you from attending your graduation ceremony, you can request to collect your diploma from the reception desk. Submit your request to the examination Board, stating the reason for your absence and providing the name of your thesis supervisor to allow us to inform the relevant lecturer.
Rules and Guidelines

Rules and guidelines Public Administration
Basis for Decisions
The examination Board bases its decisions on the Education and Examination Regulations (EER). For cases not covered in the EER, the examination Board for Public Administration applies its own policies consistently.
Exemptions
You may qualify for an exemption if you have completed courses containing content comparable to that of a Public Administration course you are required to take.
In your request, clearly specify which course you seek an exemption for and which course you completed as the basis for this exemption (e.g., "I request an exemption for course A, as I have completed course B"). Decisions on exemptions can only be made after the relevant course (e.g., course B) has been successfully completed. Conditional decisions ("if you complete course B, you will receive an exemption") are not permitted. Requests must include proof of course completion; proof of registration is insufficient.
The examination Board must be able to assess the content of the completed course. This is done in consultation with the lecturer of the course you wish to be exempted from. Therefore, include supporting documentation such as a syllabus, literature list, and/or course description.
For Pre-Master’s admissions, you may request exemptions for equivalent courses completed at a university level. Submit this request online via OSIRIS at the same time as your digital admission request.
The examination Board does not grant exemptions based on courses completed at an HBO level.
Additional Exam Opportunities
Each academic year, students have two opportunities to complete a course. If you fail the first exam (for any reason), the second exam opportunity applies. If you fail the second opportunity, you must retake the course in the following academic year. Exceptions to this policy are outlined in the rules and guidelines.
The examination Board does not overrule decisions made by the Binding Study Advice (BSA) committee. This means it cannot grant additional exam opportunities to students who have received a negative BSA due to not passing a first-year course.
