Radboud University aims to provide an inspirational setting where staff members and students can aspire to work and study willingly and successfully. It is the joint responsibility of staff members and students to ensure that this is achieved.
Principles
Radboud University seeks to provide an atmosphere that is characterised by:
- Mutual respect and personal development;
- Openness, trust and safety;
- Collaboration and accountability.
This means that:
- You will treat each other respectfully without being critical or hurtful: you will treat another as you would like to be treated yourself;
- You will not bully, harass, intimidate or discriminate against others. This also includes aggressive or sexually transgressive behaviour;
- You will make sure that you are familiar with the rules that have been laid down in the various sets of regulations (including the Education and Examination Regulations (EER) and the Student Charter). And you will also make sure that you are familiar with the agreements that have been made about such matters as attendance, submission deadlines, grading periods and the completion of assignments and that you respect these agreements;
- You are expected to actively participate in lectures and tutorials; students and lecturers are jointly responsible for ensuring that the learning process runs smoothly and can and should hold each other accountable;
- Students and lecturers are expected to turn off their mobile phones before the start of lectures and exams;
- Students and lecturers are expected to arrive at lectures on time and students must ensure that they do not leave the lecture hall before the lecture has ended unless explicit arrangements have been made beforehand.
This all essentially amounts to the same thing: that we treat each other with respect. Radboud University trusts that its students and staff members will act accordingly.
The moment that one of these rules give cause for complaint, you should contact the Central Office for the Legal Protection of Students or a confidential advisor.
