If you wish to take a pre-Master’s programme, you will not pay any tuition fees; instead, you will need to pay a fee for each study credit (ECTS). For the 2024-2025 academic year, this fee has been set at €42.17 per ECTS; the maximum amount of fees is €2,530. For the academic year 2025-2026 the fee has been set at €43.34 per ECTS with a maximum amount of €2,601.
Calculation of pre-Master’s fees
We will calculate your fees on the basis of the number of study credits that the Admissions Committee has specified on your Statement of Admission. Once the pre-Master’s programme has begun, the number of ECTS will not be able to be altered. If you are eligible for exemption, you will need to organise this before the start of the pre-Master’s programme. The Admissions Committee will then pass on this information about the reduced number of ECTS.
Duration of the study programme and the amount of fees
You may take your study programme for two continuous academic years; within this time, you will not need to pay your fees again. The starting academic year will be your first year, and the subsequent academic year will be your second year.
The period for students who are enrolled in a pre-Master’s programme at the Faculty of Medical Sciences is one year.
The period for students who are enrolled in a part-time pre-Master’s programme at the Faculty of Law is three years. The Admissions Committee will need to state this on your Statement of Admission.
Exemption and additional courses
If you take a pre-Master’s programme while you are taking a study programme for which you are paying tuition fees, you will not need to pay fees for your pre-Master’s programme.
If you wish to take additional courses outside of the set courses that you are taking for your pre-Master’s programme, you will then need to register in the traditional way and pay the corresponding tuition fees.
Withdrawing before the end of the academic year
Registration for the pre-Master’s programme is for the full academic year. Early termination of your registration will only be possible from 1 March onwards.
If you have already obtained your pre-Master’s certificate by this date, you will not receive a refund. You will subsequently pay for the number of ECTS that have been specified on your pre-Master’s certificate. You will need to submit your de-enrolment request via Studielink before 1 March. If the registration for a pre-Master’s programme that is worth more than 30 ECTS is terminated on 1 March or later, the only fees that will be payable will be those for the first 30 ECTS.
Payment of fees
You will pay your fees in the first academic year. You can either choose to pay your fees in one go or pay in equal instalments by direct debit. Please note: if you register on 1 February, you will need to pay the full amount of fees in five instalments.
More information on paying pre-Master’s programme fees
When you take a pre-Master’s programme, you will pay the entire amount of fees in the first year of your registration. You will not need to pay anything in the second year. Osiris will not do this for you automatically. The fee of €0.00 will need to be adjusted manually. This will be done within two weeks of your reregistration in Studielink. So do not worry if the correct amount is not shown in Studielink, as it will eventually be adjusted.
