University Chaplaincy
The University Chaplaincy offers a large array of activities where we focus on deepening faith and organise plenty of non-religious activities.
About us
The University Chaplaincy is more than just a place of worship for students. Here you can meet people from all kinds of backgrounds, delve into life's questions or come by for a personal conversation.
Our mission
At our core, rooted in the Christian tradition, we embody openness and dedication, fostering meaningful relationships among students and staff within the university's context.
Our aims
-
Inspire people based on the gospel and motivate them to inspire each other so they can grow in a biblical sense.
- Create relations between people where they feel well in relation to themselves, to each other and to God.
- Stimulate the university community to work for a better world and a society where all people can explore their given talents to do well.
Highlights
Meet and Eat
Meet and Eat is a place to get to know new people, learn about their cultures and share your own. Every Wednesday we aim to have a themed three-course dinner with up to 40 people! Everything is done on a voluntary basis — you're welcome to host your own, too!
Learn moreEnglish Sunday Mass
International Catholic students, PhD's and young professionals living in Nijmegen and Arnhem gather each Sunday in the Chaplaincy for Holy Mass entirely in English spoken and sung. Holy Mass is followed by an informal gathering where we can meet and catch up.
Learn moreRetreats & excursions
We frequently organise daytrips to interesting places in the Benelux region related to culture and religion. Especially for international students and PhD candidates, the trips offer a way to explore the region and new people. Every year we go to one of the Christmas markets in Germany, and in summer a group from our community goes on a week long retreat to Taizé. Other examples are: a daytrip to the Stille Omgang in Amsterdam, an excursion to Oudenbosch (copy of the Vatican basilica and Zouave Museum) and to Deventer (Modern Devotion). Interested in joining? Keep an eye on our events!

Singing in the University Chaplaincy
Do you enjoy singing in a choir? There are two choirs that rehearse in the University Chaplaincy weekly: the student church choir and the Campus Choir.
University Chaplaincy Choir
Our choir rehearses on Sunday at 10:00, just before the church service. We also sing at the religious services and celebrations organised at the University Chaplaincy. Want to join? Just come by during our rehearsal. Everybody is welcome, members and non-members, singing experience or not. Want more information? Contact us via info [at] studentenkerk.ru.nl (info[at]studentenkerk[dot]ru[dot]nl) or reach out to our conductor Willibrord Huisman (willibrord.huisman [at] gmail.com (willibrord[dot]huisman[at]gmail[dot]com)).
Campus Choir
Are you interested in singing in an international, fun, social choir? Campuskoor Veelstemmig - in short: the Campus Choir - welcomes students, PhD candidates, juniors, and other singers who fit in between, to join. Rehearsals are Mondays at 19:45 (walk-in from 19:30).
