Graduation

Once you have fulfilled the requirements of your programme's curriculum, you will be able to graduate. You can then apply for your diploma and deregister from your study programme.

Applying for your diploma

You need to apply for your diploma through your faculty.

Deregistering from your study programme

Once you have applied for your diploma, you can deregister from your study programme. This means that you will no longer have to pay tuition fees, but also that you will no longer be entitled to a student loan or a public transport pass.

Graduating in June, July or August

If you graduate in June, July or August, your registration will automatically expire on 31 August. You will not be required to take any action. Your tuition fees will also not be refunded.

If you are not sure whether you will be able to graduate in August, you will need to reregister. If you graduate in September, but your examination date falls in August, your reregistration will be retroactively cancelled.

Graduating in a different month

Once you have applied for your diploma, you can deregister from your study programme. If you graduate in any month other than June, July or August, you will need to deregister from your study programme via Studielink. You will need to deregister from your study programme as soon as your graduation date has been announced.  When you deregister, you will need to select the ‘Graduation’ option. A prerequisite for graduation is that you have a valid registration in the month your exam date is registered.

Deregister

Please note: You will no longer be entitled to a student loan or a public transport pass from the month after your examination date. Make sure that you cancel your student loan and your public transport pass on time. Find out more about the implications of deregistering from a study programme.
