As a buddy, you will support refugee students participating in Radboud Welcomes Newcomers in everyday life at Radboud University. These refugee students live in the Nijmegen area and follow a tailored programme where they can grow, familiarize themselves with Dutch education and build a strong network. Many of the students are still in their asylum procedure.
The buddy programme lasts for 1 semester. An information session will take place beforehand so you know what is expected of you.
This is you:
- Willing to meet with the student once every fortnight to make the student feel welcome on the Radboud University campus. For example, you can meet up for a coffee, take a walk around campus or study together in the library.
- The student's point of contact if they need help with anything.
This is what you get:
- An intercultural communication training course where you will receive a certificate upon completion.
- You and your buddy can join social activities organised by Radboud Welcomes Newcomers, such as potlucks and a board game night.
