Becoming a mentor during the Radboud Intro

Would you like to help welcome international students to Radboud University during and after the Intro Week? Do you have time available and lots of enthusiasm to offer? Then sign up now, because we are now looking for mentors to help us out during the RIS Summer Intro, form 16 - 22 August 2026!

As mentor you and 2 (or 3) other mentors will help a group of international exchange and (Pre) Master's students during the Radboud Intro.  

We are looking for Dutch as well as international mentors, but it is important that you have a good knowledge of the English language. 

What is expected of you? 

• That you help the international students to have a great Intro  
• That you answer practical questions
• That you help internatinoal students find their wat on campus 
• That you help the international students to settle in Nijmegen during and after the Intro 
• That you are available during the whole Intro week.
• That you have read the Declaration of Intent.  By registering as a mentor you automatically commit to this declaration. 

What's in it fo you?

• You can extend your international network 
• It looks good on your CV
• You have access to all the Radboud Intro activities 
• You can go to the Intro Festival for free
• You can make new friends 
• The programma has already been organised for you by RIS 

You can register individually or with friends.  

A couple of weeks before the Intro you will be notified which group you will be in.

Mentor meetings and training

RIS mentor meetings

RIS organises two practical meetings of about an hour.

Dates:       6 July and 10 August
Start:        16.00
Location: Erasmus building, room 2.54

• Explanation of the RIS programme 
• Meet you fellow and co-mentors and of course the RIS team :)
• The responsibilities of the RIS mentors will be discussed
• Drinks afterwards to get to know each-other better

It is obligatory to attend these meetings. So, do not forget to save the dates! 

Central training

On 12 and 13 August the central organisation of the Radboud Intro also organise workshops to help you prepare for being a mentor. You are obliged to attend one of the programme on one of these days.  So, do not forget to save the dates! 

To register, follow the steps below:

1. You must read the following points of interest (pdf) (scroll down for English).
2. Read the rest of the information on this page and complete the registration form below for your entire group of mentors (three or four) or register as an individual mentor.
3. Mentors for the Radboud Intro 2026 must agree to the terms of the declaration of intent 2026. You can find the declaration of intent 2025 (pdf) here. 

Expected presence

All mentors are required to be present for the duration of the Intro (Sunday 16 August through Saturday 22 August). Each mentor will receive a € 50,- compensation for this period. All mentors are also expected to attend the following meetings: 

• Tuesday 26 May, 12.15-13.30 uur: Faculty Mentor Meeting

During this meeting, which is mandatory for all mentors, we will discuss the programme and essential matters relating to the Intro. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions.

• Wednesday 12 August or Thursday 13 August: Mentor Preparation Session

If you are a mentor during the Intro of 2026, it is mandatary to participate in the mentor preparation session organised by the central organisation team. This session will take place on Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 August. You can let us know which day you prefer. If you have been accepted as a mentor, you will receive more information later this year.

The mentor registration form closes after Friday 1 May. The head mentors and individually registered mentors will receive an email informing them whether they have been been selected mid-May.

3. Carefully fill in the registration form below for the entire group of minimum three and maximum four mentors. 

Expected presence

• Thursday 4 June, 12.15-12.45: Mentor information session

During this meeting, which is mandatory for all mentors, we will discuss the programme and essential matters relating to the Intro. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions.

• Wednesday 12 August or Thursday 13 August (all day): Mentor preparation session

If you are a mentor during the Intro of 2026, it is mandatory to participate in the mentor instruction session organised by the central organisation team. This session will take place on Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 August. You can let us know which day you prefer. If you have been accepted as a mentor, you will receive more information later this year.

You can register as a mentor until Tuesday, 2 June, 12:00 AM. After this date, an ECTS check will take place and we will assess the registrations based on motivation. The orientation committee will select 50% of the mentor groups and the other 50% will be chosen by the SVM (Samenwerkende Verenigingen Managementwetenschappen).

You can register to become a mentor for each study programme. Check out the procedure for this below. Is your programme not listed? Then email your question to the communications-science [at] ru.nl (communication department) of the Faculty of Science with the subject Bachelor Introduction.

Biology (BeeVee) 

Want to become a mentor in the Biology orientation? The mentors for this orientation are selected internally by the orientation committee BOC. If you are a BeeVee member, you can sign up in groups of three to become mentors. When you become a mentor, you will attend four meetings throughout the second semester to prepare for the orientation. You will also help organise one activity that takes place in the orientation. During the orientation you will show what Nijmegen and BeeVee have to offer through many fun activities to your group, which consists of about 10-15 new Biology students. The sign-up happens only once a year in a selected timeframe, and will be announced through BeeVee’s communication channels on Whatsapp and on the Instagram of BOC and BeeVee. If you missed the sign-up period this year, don’t worry! Every year people are also needed to help as a bike guide for an excursion, which is also asked for in the channels. Computing Science (Thalia)

Mathematics (Desda) 

How great that you want to become a mentor during the upcoming introduction week! W.S.V. Desda arranges its mentors internally, which means that, provided you are a Desda member, you can go to the registration form and register there. Here you will also find information about the declaration of intent, which we ask you to read and agree to. If you are not a Desda member or donor, but would still really like to become an intro mentor? Molecular Life Sciences 

Unfortunately, the registrations for mentorship this year for MLS are closed. However, we are still looking for functions that can make the introduction of 2025 unforgettable. For more information, you can email the introcie [at] science.ru.nl (introduction committee.)

To register as a mentor, follow these steps:

1. Mentors for the Radboud Intro 2026 must agree to the terms of the declaration of intent 2026. You can find the declaration of intent 2025 (pdf) here. 
2. Please then complete the registration form below carefully for the entire group of at least three and no more than four mentors.

Expected attendance

Attendance at the entire induction programme is, of course, compulsory. In addition, you are expected to keep the following dates free:

Wednesday 22 April: Mentor meeting

During this meeting, the programme and key details regarding the Radboud induction will be discussed, and there will be an opportunity to ask questions.

Wednesday 12 August or Thursday 13 August (all day): Central Mentor Preparation

If you are a mentor during the 2026 intro, you are required to take part in the mentor training organised by the central introduction organisation. This will take place on Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 August. You can indicate your preferred day for this. If you are accepted as a mentor by us, you will receive further information later this year.

You can register as a mentor until Wednesday 1 April. The interviews will take place on 14 and 15 April.
