Applying for your Bachelor's diploma
If you have completed additional Bachelor’s courses at the Faculty of Law that fall outside the standard curriculum and these have not been included in another diploma, they may possibly be included as extra-curricular courses. In such situations, please provide the names of these courses below. Courses that have been successfully completed at another faculty (such as the Nijmegen School of Management) will not be included as extra-curricular courses. If you graduate from a Bachelor’s programme before 1 June, you will be eligible for a refund of the excess tuition fees.

Requesting Master diploma
Procedure
The defense of your thesis is now separate from the diploma ceremony. You will defend your thesis at the faculty. At a later date, once you have successfully completed all components of your study programme, you will receive your diploma during the graduation ceremony.
Defense
Once your thesis has been approved, a date will be scheduled for you to defend your thesis. This defense takes place at the Faculty of Law. You are expected to be able to defend your thesis topic and discuss recent developments in the field, including literature, case law, and practice. The grade for your thesis will be determined based on both the content of the thesis and your defense. The grade will be processed by the student administration in Osiris.
Applying for your diploma
Once you have completed all components of your study programme, you can apply for your diploma. To do so, you need to fill out the application form. Administrative processing of your diploma takes several weeks. Once your diploma has been processed, you will be notified.

Enrollment and Deregistration
At the time of applying for your diploma, you must still be enrolled in your programme. Once your diploma has been processed and you have received confirmation, you can deregister. It is therefore not necessary to be enrolled when you collect your diploma. Information about deregistration can be found on the graduation page.
Graduation Ceremonies
The “Graduation Ceremonies” page provides information on when the ceremonies will take place and the deadline by which your application must be submitted to participate in the respective ceremony.
For the ceremony at the Berchmanianum, you may invite four guests. After the ceremony, there will be a reception where you can celebrate your graduation together with your guests. Diploma Services will send you an official invitation for the ceremony by email approximately two weeks before the event.
Digital Diploma Transcript
If you need a statement confirming that you have obtained your diploma after it has been processed but before you have received the physical diploma, you can download a digital transcript of your diploma via “Mijn DUO.” This transcript has the same validity as the original diploma.
Receiving your diploma
You collect your diploma at the Berchmanianum. More information about the procedure.
If you are unable to collect your diploma because you have returned to your address abroad, we can send the diploma to you by registered mail. This involves a certain (minor) risk: the Master’s diploma sent via registered mail by the RU may not be received. A Master’s diploma is only awarded once. By selecting “yes” on the diploma application form to have the Master’s diploma sent via registered mail and providing a foreign address in your name, you acknowledge the above-mentioned risk and accept responsibility for it. The foreign address must remain valid for at least 3 months.
Two Master’s Specialisations
If you are completing two master’s specialisations within one programme (for example, Business Law and Human Rights and Migration), you apply for graduation once you have completed all components of both study programmes. You will receive only one diploma; the specialisations will be listed in the diploma supplement.
