What is RIS for Students?
RIS for Students is a tool for both students and supervisors. You can use the tool to create a DMP. Supervisors can provide feedback on the DMP.
When should you use RIS for Students?
Some degree programmes require students to use RIS for Students. Check with your supervisor or lecturer to determine whether you are required to use RIS for Students. You will use RIS for Students at the start of your research by creating a DMP. In a DMP, you describe how you will manage data during your research, including how data will be collected, stored, and protected.
Previously, RIS for Students was also used to archive data from bachelor’s and master’s theses. This functionality is no longer in use; however, any data that has already been archived will be retained for the specified retention period.
Access to DMPs
The DMPs are not publicly accessible. Access to the DMPs is restricted to:
- The student(s) who created the DMP.
- The linked supervisor(s).
- A limited number of support and IT staff members, only when necessary.
In addition, some faculties work with a data steward. Data stewards can view DMPs and metadata.
